At a time when electric mobility is expanding its outreach in India but insufficient EV infrastructure also creates ample space for CNG vehicles to fill the gap. Taking advantage, Maruti Suzuki is leading the CNG fleet in the country followed by Hyundai and Tata Motors. As of now, Maruti offers CNG variants in its Swift, WagonR, Dzire, Celerio, Alto 800, Alto K10, Eeco, S-Presso, and Ertiga vehicles.
Maruti Baleno & XL6 CNG variants
Maruti Suzuki is all set to equip factory-fitted S-CNG technology for its both Nexa Baleno and XL6 cars. However, the company is prepping to offer the CNG equipment to limited variants where Baleno gets it with Delta and Zeta MT models while XL6 with its Zeta variant only. In the contrast, Baleno’s counterpart Toyota Glanza offers CNG with its three S, G, and V trims. Maruti Baleno and XL6 CNG specs
A 1.2L K-series motor powers the Maruti Baleno to produce a maximum of 89bhp at 6,000 RPM and a maximum torque of 113Nm at 4,400 RPM. The ICE variants are available in AMT and 5-speed manual gearboxes. While Baleno CNG will generate an output of 76bhp at 6,000 RPM torque. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is powered by a 1.5L K15C engine with DualJet and Dual VVT technology that also powers Ertiga. It generates 136.8Nm of torque at 4400 RPM and 102bhp of power at 6000 RPM. Transmission options include a 5-speed and a 6-speed AT with paddle shifters. The Maruti XL6 CNG will deliver 87bhp and 121.5Nm output.
Maruti Baleno and XL6 CNG expected prices
The Maruti Baleno Zeta CNG and Delta CNG are anticipated to have price tags of Rs. 7.2 lakh and Rs. 9.12 lakh, respectively after a hike of Rs 96,000 to their ICE siblings. The XL6 Zeta CNG is probably going to be priced between Rs. 12.25 lakh and 12.35 lakh after the addition of Rs 95,000 to the petrol variant. The upcoming Tata Altroz CNG, Toyota Glanza CNG, and Kia Carens CNG will face off against the Maruti Baleno CNG and XL6 CNG.
