As per WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp may soon roll out support for selecting three different image quality options before sending them to recipients. This support is yet to come in the Beta channel.
WhatsApp Image Sharing Quality
For a long, WhatsApp is facing backlash for not having the basic functions for interactive communication – as its rivals have. But the platform is picking up lately, by considering the suggestions from the community. Hearing their plea, WhatsApp may soon bring support for choosing quality options for media they’re sending to the recipients. We have earlier heard that WhatsApp is working on video quality options while sharing them to chats, and now, we hear from WaBetaInfo that it’s working on similar support for images too. As per them, the new support will let users choose a quality standard among three available options, that will be applicable to all the media (photos and videos) being shared with others. These three options are;
Auto (recommended): Where WhatsApp will detect whether to compress the video or not and takes automatic action before sending it. Best quality: where all videos will be sent with the best quality (highest resolution) available! Data saver: WhatsApp uses its compression algorithm to compress videos before sending them.
Note that selecting one option in the settings will be applicable for all the photos sent since then. So if you want to alter it, you have to change it accordingly. Leaving the option at Best Quality may not be a problem for high-end handsets, but it eats up budget smartphones easily. Thus, choose the option according to your device capability, or leave it to WhatsApp for picking. This support is currently under development and is not in the Beta channel yet. We hope both the video quality and image quality sharing options will be rolled out at once.
